Note from the Secretary

The Hunting Season is here! Finally!

The goose season has already begun with pheasants, partridge, woodcock and ducks just around the corner. The deer hunters have been scouting and getting their deer stands ready. Quite a few bow hunters have been practicing on Thursday evenings at the club. Come up and get your equipment tuned in.

It’s time to sign up for the deer contest. There is a sign up sheet at the club.

Good luck to everyone this hunting season.

Eileen

PISTOL NEWS

There will be a 900 shoot on Saturday October 12th starting at 9:00 a.m. All members are encouraged to participate. This will be a 22 caliber only shoot. A total of 90 rounds will be fired by each shooter. Ten shots at 9 different targets You must supply your own gun and ammunition and the club will supply the targets. There is a sign up sheet at the club so each shooter can pick their starting time. Any question email Tom Damkowitch at dampot@rcn.com or Robert Alpert at robert@ralpert.com.

The Nashoba Valley Pistol League 2002-2003 season is starting the 2nd week of October. This league is a .22 cal indoor pistol league. We shoot Wednesday evenings from Mid October till Mid April. If you are interested in shooting in the league please contact George Checkowski at jazzeasy@earthlink.net, Tom Damkowitch at dampot@rcn.com or Robert Alpert at nvpl@ralpert.com. There is a league meeting for captains, but anyone interested may attend. It will be held at the club on 9/11 at 7:30 p.m.

When using the indoor range, please pick up all brass after you shoot. There has been reports of brass left all over the range floor, and some live rounds were found on the floor. Please be courteous to others and clean up after yourself.

I will be supplying containers for collecting once fired centerfire brass. There are many shooters that are starting to reload at the club and having this brass would be very helpful. If you do not wish to save your once fired brass, please place it in the bin marked for the caliber you are shooting. Any brass that has been used many times or steel shells should be placed in the regular brass bucket.

If you are using the targets supplied by the range, please remember to pay for the targets that you use. The money collected the last few months was below what we needed to break even, and if this continues we will stop supplying the use of targets.

Thanks to those who cooked or served a meal. Thanks to those who worked in the lounge to help move this project along. Thanks to those who donate their time in their own quiet way. Thanks to those who have taken on the challenge of running an event. Your work is greatly appreciated and noticed by all.

SPECIAL REQUEST: If anyone has any poster paints or any kind of paints that are “kid friendly” that your child might have outgrown we would like to have your leftovers. We could use these items for children’s craft at the Club. If you have anything that the Club might use please contact Eileen Facenda at 781 899-7824.
