Message from the Secretary

The response to the Roast Beef Dinner has been great. It is scheduled for Friday evening, November 14th. We decided to take reservations by e-mail for those members who could not get up to the club. This seems to be very popular. If you would like to make reservations by e-mail please contact me at facenda@earthlink.net. Mark the subject as Roast Beef Dinner and let me know how many guests you will have. It couldn't be easier. Paul Cooney will be cooking the meal. Come up and enjoy a fun evening.

If anyone would like to help out with serving and clean up at the dinner please contact me. This is a great opportunity for limited members to get in some of their work requirement hours.

The Children's Christmas party is scheduled for December 7th. More details are in the newsletter. Please reserve in advance. SANTA would like to bring enough gifts!

Board of Governors

Vin Bartolomeo (2 year term)
Mike Barton (1 year term)

We thank these members for making the commitment to take on this responsibility.

Children's Xmas Party : Once again this year Travis Snell and Bruce Gurall have volunteered to coordinate the Children's Xmas Party.

It is scheduled for Sunday, December 7th from 12 noon to 3 p.m. Santa will be there. Lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m. which will include hot dogs, fruit, chips, milk, juice and cake. There will also be exciting activities and games for the kids!

SANTA will provide a small gift for all the children, however, we encourage you to PLEASE let Travis know either by e mail (travissnell@yahoo.com) or by leaving a voice message at his home 978-369-3052 indicating how many children you will be bringing so he can ensure that Santa has enough gifts.

Monthly Raffle: Steve Ferranti’s name was picked for the raffle. Unfortunately he was not in attendance. $$$$ grow and grow.

Grounds: The trap project is underway. Thank you to the members who have taken down some trees. Thank you to everyone who has stacked the wood. Bill Lewis reports that Jim Condon will not be doing the plowing for us this year. He is currently taking bids. If anyone has a chipper or can help out with tree removal please contact Bill Lewis.

Cribbage: Just a reminder that Cribbage will be starting on Friday evenings in January. There will be more information in next month’s newsletter.

November Monthly Meeting: Mark your calendar to attend this important meeting on November 19th. The Board of Governors will present their recommendation for 2004 dues.

Pistol Range: Special Important Notice: Over the past month someone removed the pre-filter in an attempt to fix the ventilation system and therefore the hepa filter got clogged up and will have to be replaced. This is an expensive filter. Please do not touch the range filter system. If it is not working, please contact the range chairman, Robert Alpert at robert@ralpert.com. Also please remember to clean up after you use the range and pay for your targets (3 for 25 cents).

Upcoming activities:

Darts — Thanks to Jim O’Donnell for donating a dart board and setting up the hall for indoor shooting. This will be a great winter activity.

Hatchet/Tomahawk throwing — A few members have taken on the task of setting up some targets for this new activity. It should be fun. We’ll keep you posted on the progress.

Special Hunting News: Many of our members have already taken some very nice deer. Congratulations!

Congratulations to Jack Lorenz and his hunting partner Joe Collins who took a bull moose in Groton NH on October 18, 2003. Live weight est. by F&G at 1,000 lbs. Dressed weight was 760 lbs. Antler spread 48”. The bull was taken at 9:45 a.m. on the opening day. When you get to the club look for the pictures on the bulletin board.

E-mail addresses: Everyone seems to be enjoying our web site and the fact that they can receive the newsletter and important broadcast messages so easily. It’s a great way to communicate quickly. It is important that you keep us advised if you change your e-mail address. Please contact Robert Alpert at robert@ralpert.com with any changes. We have been getting some returns. You won’t be receiving the newsletter alert if we can’t reach you. Here is a list of recent returns. If your name is listed below please send your e-mail address to Robert so that we can update our files. Thank you.
