MASSACHUSETTS JUNIOR CONSERVATION CAMP

2003 Junior Camp Session

The Massachusetts Junior Conservation Camp announces their 2003 session will be held from August 10 to August 22 at the Chesterfield Scout Reservation in Chesterfield, Massachusetts. "We are pleased that we have found this wonderful site for our camp," said President Stephen Johnson. Last year's program was cancelled as a location with the necessary facilities count not be located. We are pleased to hear of the program's return.

The Camp is a two week residential camp for boys and girls aged 13 through 17. The curriculum includes a number of outdoor activities such as water safety, boating safety, riflery, hunter education and more. Tuition will be $500 for the two week session, which includes meals, accommodations and the Camp program.

Note from the Secretary

Spring is almost here. It's time to get ready for fishing. Are you familiar with the Pond Rules? There is a copy posted at the club. The rules are strict. Make sure you know how many fish you can take, when you can fish and who can fish with you. If the ice ever melts it should be a another great year. We stock some good size fish.

Be sure to check your calendar of events list for changes. Some of the dates are tentative and could change. We will keep you posted on our web site with current information. The dates for Member's Fishing and Kid's Fishing have been posted but if the pond doesn't cooperate we might have to move these dates. We will keep you posted on our web site and notification at the club. Because the ice controls these events please check with the club before attending.

Have you paid your dues yet? If we don't receive your 2003 dues by March 26th (March Monthly Meeting) you will be dropped from membership. Don't wait until the last minute. Get your check in the mail today.

Thank you to the members who have already paid their dues. Please pick up your membership card and club button at the club.

The Corned Beef and Cabbage dinner is filling up fast. Sign up sheet is on the bulletin board.

The Roast Beef Dinner will now be on Sunday, April 6th.

CONDOLENCES

The club sends its sincere condolences to Tom Guyer's family. Tom passed away suddenly last month. Our thoughts are with you during this most difficult time.

GAME DINNER — THANK YOU

Once again, the annual game dinner was both a sellout and a success. The lucky people who bought their tickets early dined on over twenty different tasty dishes.

It takes every facet of the club to make this dinner as good as it is. The dinner relies heavily on food donations as well as prepared food being brought to the dinner. I would like to thank all the people who contribute, but I fear I might miss somebody if I tried to name them all.

I do need to acknowledge four people who are the driving force behind this dinner. Head chef Bob Fenochetti, Del Ferranti, Brad Stetson and Jim Gallagher. The time and effort these people put into this dinner is awesome.

The bow raffle was spearheaded by Del Ferranti and proved to be profitable and fun. Bob Hayes won the bow and he still has not put it down!

Thanks to All,

Bill Jarmo

Action Shoot

Saturday - March 22
10 a.m. - noon

An Action Shoot will be held on the 22nd. Everyone is invited to join in. Bring any type of handgun, any caliber. If you do not have a gun, we can provide you with one.

The course of fire will be as follows:

We will set up 4 large USPSA targets and 2 steel plate targets downrange. Your gun will be placed on a stand forward of the shooting positions. On the buzzer, you will grab your gun and shoot a specified number of shots at each target and then hit the steel plates. This might require a magazine change, so bring extra mags. You will be timed and your targets will be scored.

This is an informal shoot, and you will only be competing with yourself. We will record your scores to see how you improved. For those revolver shooters, we will modify the course to make it easier for you.

We will also provide you with some basic shooting training if you have not done this before.

Please bring eye and ear protection, a gun and plenty of ammo (we can supply them if you don't have any).

There will be a small charge to cover the cost of running the event.

Please let me know if you plan on attending, if I don't hear from enough people to shoot then the event will not be held.
