MASSACHUSETTS JUNIOR CONSERVATION CAMP:  It’s time to start thinking about Jr. Conservation Camp.  The dates this year will be from July 28 to August 9, 2002.  It will be held at the Buzzards Bay Massassoit Camp.  Both Basic Hunter Ed and Bow Hunter Ed courses will be offered to the campers.  As you know, the club will sponsor two children.  If you would like your child to be considered to attend please contact Eileen Facenda for an application form.  (781-899-7824)

BAY STATE ARCHERS BANQUET:  This year the banquet will be on March 23rd at the Marlboro Fish and Game Club.  If you are interested in purchasing tickets or finding out more information, contact Jim Jackman or Artty Kinsman.  Tickets are $15 each.

RAFFLE:  William Boland’s name was drawn at the February Monthly Meeting.  He was not in attendance.

SPORTSMEN’S DINNER was a big success.  We served over 100 dinners.  Thanks to everyone who helped to make this event so successful and thank you to Bill Jarmo for taking on the challenge of running the dinner.  What a fabulous event .

BAY STATE ARCHERS 3-D SHOOT:  It was a perfect day for the shoot.  We had about 120 shooters.  Thank you to the kitchen crew, the group who set up the course and the registration team .

CRIBBAGE TOURNAMENT :  The 2002 Cribbage Tournament at the Club is in the home stretch with 2 weeks remaining in the schedule.  The leader into week 8 is Linda Bregoli with 46 points and in second place is Bruce Harvey with 42 points.  The dubious leader with the most 19’s is Robert Alpert with 27 .

Our inter-club match with the Musketaquid Club will be on the 17th of March.  The top four players from the Concord Rod and Gun Club cribbage tournament will play the top four players from the Musketaquid Club cribbage tournament.  This will be the first of what we hope will be a yearly duel to see which Club has the “best” cribbage players and see who will maintain the trophy plaque for that year.  Best of luck (it’s St. Patrick’s Day the 17th) to all the players representing both Clubs .

INDOOR RANGE: If there is any damage to the range, please report the damage by either notifying Robert Alpert as soon as possible or leave a note in the range for him.  If the damage makes the range unsafe in any way, please put up signs to notify others of the danger.  Please do not attempt to make temporary fixes .

robertalpert@attbi.com or 508 651-1153 .

The next Centerfire shoot will be Sunday March 17th at 10:30 a.m.  Along with the Centerfire shoot will be a special contest with a chance to win cash.  Come on by and have some fun shooting.

TRAP NEWS :  The Club will be fielding  two teams in the Greater Lowell Trap League this year.  The teams are set and practice should be starting within a few weeks.  This will be our 22nd year competing in the League .

We will be putting together a bulk order for ammo and reloading components for those interested in saving some money on their shooting supplies for the coming season.  If you would like to be included in this purchase, please contact Vin Bartolomeo at 978-369-2428 or vin_bartolomeo@netzero.net to provide a list of what you would like to buy .

The range will begin formal shooting hours in April with assigned range officers.  The times will be on Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m .

Gun Owners' Action League:  On February 25, 2002, Gun Owners’ Action League began a petition drive.  This petition is being used to bring Governor Swift’s attention to the manner in which lawful gun owners are being treated in the Commonwealth.  It is their hope that with enough participation in this petition effort, the Governor will take action on behalf of the citizenry and restore some pride and accountability to this state.  There is a copy of this petition at the Club.  Please make an effort to read and sign it.  More details are available on GOAL’s web site  www.goal.org.

2002 DUES :  If you don’t pay your dues by the end of the March Monthly meeting you will be dropped from our membership.  If you have already paid you can pick up your membership card at the bar or we will mail it to you with the April newsletter .
