GET WELL
WISHES We send our best wishes to Lenny Palma
who is recovering from surgery. .
TRAP
NEWS: Come up on Sundays to practice from 1 – 4 p.m. All
shooters, whether seasoned or novice, are welcome to come and enjoy an
afternoon of shooting at the Club.
WILD BOAR
HUNT: Once again this year a group of members will be
making a trip to Hillside Guide Service in Aurora, Maine for a weekend
wild boar hunt. This will take place on the 26th, 27th and 28th of July.
Anyone interested can contact either Vin Bartolomeo at 978-369-2428 or
Dick Bregoli at 978-256-2715 for further details.
IRON
MAN: IRON MAN: Although the
weather was nasty the Iron Man was still held. Over 30 people signed up
and 24 shot the event. Everyone who came had a great time. This year's
Iron Man is Peter Dallaire! Mark Lewis came in 2nd and Jim Jackman was
3rd. Thanks to all who came and participated. Special thanks to Ray Phalon
and David Wilkinson for working the kitchen. Those Hilltop Steaks were
delicious! Warren Soar won the raffle and took home a tree stand donated
by Blue Northern Trading Company in Ayer. Next year hopefully the weather
will cooperate and we'll get 50 shooters!
Ironman Pictures
ARCHERY: We have a 3D shoot coming up
on June 23rd and setup will be on June 22nd, if you can help sign-up at
the club or email Jim Jackman at james.jackman@verizon.net.
We are in the process of having wood chips spread over the archery
target area, please have patience as we are waiting for volunteers
equipment which is in heavy demand during this time of year.
Congratulations to
Eileen Facenda who took First Place on Sunday and First Place overall for
the weekend in Women’s Recurve at the 6th Annual Buckhorn Traditional
Rendezvous held at the Stockbridge Sportsmens Club.
COUNCIL ON AGING
LUNCHEON: We served
over 40 lunches. The seniors all enjoyed themselves. The meal was
fabulous. Thanks to everyone who helped out cooking and serving the meal.
Special thanks to Joe LaPusata, Bruce and Alice Harvey, George Checkowski,
Eileen Facenda and Art and Marge Stetson.
PISTOL: Centerfire matches will not be held during the
summer. They will continue in the fall.
GROUNDS:
If anyone has a bobcat or bucket loader, we could really use your help spreading the wood chips
on the archery range. If you have some time do some racking behind the clubhouse and
near the shed.
HELP: Do we have any musicians who would
be willing to have a sing-a-long with the kids at the summer outing. It
would only take a half hour of your time. You could enjoy the outing with
your family. Please call Eileen Facenda at 781 899-7824.
Does anyone know
a beekeeper? If so, call Eileen Facenda at 781 899-7824. We thought it
would be fun to have a “bee observatory” at the Summer Outing. If you’ve
ever been to the Topsfield Fair you know what a hit it is with
children.
WEBSITE: Thanks to
everyone who has given us their e-mail address so they can read the
monthly newsletter on line. This will save the club some money. As you
know, postage keeps going up. We now have 98 members using the web site.
If you haven’t already, please send your e-mail address to Bruce Harvey.
LOUNGE PROJECT:
Thanks to the members who have put in their
time on this project. It is moving along. Your effort is greatly
appreciated
SUMMER
OUTING UPDATE
Del Ferranti is busy making
preparations for this years outing. As you know, the outing will be on
Saturday, July 20th with a rain date of July 21st. As in the past, there
will be trap, archery, turkey shoot and canoe races. There will also be
crafts for the kids, a parade, face painting and few surprises. Lobsters
will be available along with hamburgers, hot dogs and sausages.
RAFFLE
:
Quite a few members have been busy selling their raffle tickets. We appreciate
your effort. Buy a few yourself and sell a few to friends. It’s really
easy. The Club is counting on your support.
Please mail your checks
along with the name/address portion of the tickets to:
Concord Rod and Gun Club
Inc.
Attention: Lenny Palma
P. O. Box 271
Concord, MA 01742
More tickets are available at the club.
CAKE
WALK:
We haven’t heard from anyone willing to volunteer to bake cakes or cookies
for the cake walk. Everyone participates in the cake walk at the outing.
The kid’s love it. Last year we ran out of cakes. Please volunteer to bake
or buy a cake or cookies to use as prizes. Corinne Kinsman has once again
offered to run this event. Contact her to let her know how many cakes you
can bring. Don’t wait until July, give her a call now at 978-369-1379.
KID’S
EVENTS: We will be having some crafts workshops and face
painting. The first workshop will start at 11:30 a.m. The kid’s will be
making hats. It’s a fun project. Be sure to arrive early so your children
can participate. After the hats are completed we will be having a parade
so they can show them off to everyone. It should be a lot of fun. If you
have any new ideas that you think might be fun for the kids give Eileen
Facenda a call at 781-899-7824.
SPECIAL
RAFFLE: Del Ferranti was able
to get an outfitter in Pennsylvania to donate a 5 day father/son archery
hunt for deer October 13-17, 2003. This includes room, board and guide. He
will raffle it off at the outing, selling only 52 chances.
NEW
MEMBERS: The summer outing is a great time to put in some
of your work hours. It will give you a chance to meet the members and
enjoy the club with your family. Give Del Ferranti a call if you can help
out.
