Due to time constraints, you’ll find my newsletters more abbreviated but I hope I am giving you the information you want as a club member. Please let me know. Sheryl Read.

2005 Trap Team Notice
The New Year is here, and it's time to start thinking about trap competition for our Club in the Greater Lowell Trap League.
For the last several years, we have fielded two teams in the League, but coming out of last year, there seemed to be enough interest to form a third team. The League meeting is in February, and it's at this time that we submit our request for entries.
I would like to hear from anyone interested in competing this year on a team. Please understand that I need a commitment for the season, which runs from April to August. For new teams, it will mean Tuesday evening shoots, so please consider this in your decision process. If there are any questions, please contact me, but if you have a definite interest in participating on a team, make sure you let me know now. If we wait until February and I don't have sufficient commits, I'll go with the status quo, two teams. Contact information: Vin Bartolomeo, 978-369-2428, bartolomeo@verizon.net.
Proposed By-law Changes
At the next Members Meeting, the Board will ask for a vote:
- To change Article III, Section 6 (Non dues-paying members) of the by-laws to reflect that the positions of Treasurer, Financial Secretary and Secretary be added to the list of non dues-paying members. (Board members are compensated for their service at an amount equal to the dues. This reduces paperwork involved on both sides.)
- To change Article V, Section 8 (Duties of the Board of Governors) of the by-laws to reflect a change of day that the Board of Governors meets. The by-law currently reads: “The Board of Governors shall meet on the first Wednesday of every month and at other times at the call of the President.” The proposed change would read, “The Board of Governors shall meet on the first Monday of every month (or whichever first weekday is determined by the Board of Governors as the most convenient), and at other times at the call of the President.”
- To change Article VII, Section 1 (Membership meetings) of the by-laws to reflect a change of the day that the Membership meetings are held. The by-law currently reads “Membership meetings shall be held on the fourth Wednesday evening of each month, unless there are unavoidable circumstances; then the meeting night may be changed by a majority vote of the Board of Governors.” The proposed change would read, “Membership meetings shall be held on the fourth Monday evening of each month (or whichever fourth weekday is determined by the Board of Governors as the most convenient), unless there are unavoidable circumstances; then the meeting night may be changed by a majority vote of the Board of Governors.”
Miscellaneous
- If you are hunting on club property, it is important to note the property boundaries. Massachusetts law dictates that you may shoot a deer on club property and chase it, if wounded, to another’s land. However, you cannot shoot a deer if it is on someone else’s property.
- The club has always welcomed members’ dogs in the clubhouse. However, it is important that your dog be under your control and does not soil inside. In addition, the Board of Health has strict guidelines that do not allow pets into areas serving food..
- Reminder not to handle your guns in the bar room. It is acceptable to handle firearms in the lounge.
- Finally, please be aware that there may be sensitive ears nearby when using adult language. Members have been bringing guests and children to the club for many years. Let’s make sure that their experience is a positive one.
